Giving Tuesday is an important day for our organization. As grief casts a long and challenging shadow over the lives of countless individuals, our organization remains steadfast in its mission to provide the much-needed support and solace during these difficult times. Giving Tuesday presents an exceptional opportunity for individuals and communities to come together in a spirit of compassion and generosity, empowering our charity to expand its reach and amplify the impact of our programs and services.
By rallying behind our cause on this special day of giving, we can create a powerful ripple effect of healing, hope, and solidarity for those navigating the arduous journey of loss and grief. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.

How our services impact members and the community
We lost our child tragically and unexpectedly. Nothing could have prepared us for it. For a very long time we were unmoored by this loss. What added to our pain was the knowledge that our own grief was holding us back from showing up for our other two children, in the way we had before the accident. When someone recommended Bereaved Families of Ontario (BFO), we hesitated, not sure if we wanted to share our grief, and uncertain if anyone could understand fully. How wrong we were. The two BFO volunteers embraced us with their kindness and patience, never pushing, always listening and just being there when we couldn’t find the words. The people in our group related to us in a way our close friends and family couldn’t despite their best intentions, because the folks in our group had actually experienced a shared loss. The experience was an important step in moving forward. Of course we don’t feel “Healed” – I don’t think you can when you experience this kind of loss. But, we have been given the tools and opportunities to manage, and make ourselves available to be happy, to hope and still enjoy what we have. This in turn has helped our whole family.
